You love running your business in Canada and working with your customers or clients. Bookkeeping? Not so much, it’s about as appealing as a root canal – and causes you about the same amount of pain.

Fantastic News: I’m obsessed with spreadsheets. I love bookkeeping & nerding out about business finances. I’d be super excited to help you out!

As of right now (March 30th, 2025) I can’t 100% guarantee that your 2025 books will be completed in time for your accountant to file and for you to get your payment of any outstanding taxes in by the deadline (April 30th). If your filing and payment is late, it’s possible that you could end up with some late payment penalties if you have taxes owing.

However, the penalties accrue daily, so the sooner you can get your filing & payment in the better. If you’re completely overwhelmed & don’t know where to even start, then having me get your document together a week or two late is better than putting it off for months.

For $1700 CAD (plus GST), you can hand off prepping your 2025 document for your accountant to me, breathe a sigh of relief, and feel many pounds of stress lift from your shoulders. You also get a *very cool spreadsheet that you can use for future years that makes bookkeeping way less stressful, and lets you see at a glance how things are going in the business finance-wise. Don’t worry, I’ll show you how it all works!

*I am biased because I made the spreadsheet and also weirdly obsessed with spreadsheets, as previously mentioned. But even so, I truly do think it’s a cool and very helpful spreadsheet for Canadian small business owners!

Two options:

$1700 CAD + GST

  • A spreadsheet that automatically calculates things like:
    • GST collected (and paid on expenses)
    • How much you can write off for your business use of home & vehicle
    • How income & expenses should be categorized
  • A yearly profit & loss statement as well as monthly overviews that show:
    • Overall business health (what’s being spent vs. what’s coming in)
    • Approximately how much you should set aside for income tax
    • Approximately how much you should be paying yourself
  • The spreadsheet completely set up & customized to your business – ready to use for future years!
  • Approximate monthly & annual budgets for 2026 for business expenses
  • Colours & branding customized to your business
  • A 30 min call or short recorded video going over the finished spreadsheet, your choice!
  • Real clarity on how your business performed in 2025
  • All of this done for you, all you have to do is provide your account statements and a little bit of info! Sweet relief!

$599 CAD + GST Including set-up!

  • A copy of the Canadian Small Biz Bookkeeping spreadsheet – set up specifically for your business
  • 1 month of income & expenses imported for you to use as a reference
  • An organized & easy to read document ready to hand off to your accountant for year end tax filing
  • NO recurring fees! Pay once and use the spreadsheet for as long as you like!
  • Faster bookkeeping by setting up rules to automatically categorize income & expenses
  • GST/HST/PST reporting made easy with automatic calculations!
  • Understand approximately how much to set aside for paying business & personal income tax – no more surprises at the end of the year!
  • Clarity on business financial health with monthly & annual overviews
  • Easily set & track monthly budgets for expenses
  • Find out how much of your home & vehicle expenses you can write off without having to break out the calculator
  • Multiple monthly or annual subscription fees to various software services (QuickBooks, Xero, PDF parsers, etc) that can easily run $1000+ per year.
  • Tax advice and tax filings – I’m not an accountant. Yes an approximate amount for GST/HST and income taxes is tracked and included in the spreadsheet, but this is purely for informational purposes and should be reviewed by an accountant.
  • Payroll management – if you’re running payroll and have employees that you need to be remitting income tax for, you need a higher-level service.
Note: Having contractors is fine, you do not need to remit income tax on their behalf and their pay is recorded as an operating expense.
  • Receipt management & document storage – I recommend having a Google Drive (or similar cloud storage service) with a folder for each tax year, and sub-folders for every month within that. Then you have all your receipts & records organized in the event of an audit by the CRA.

You can also place a link to each receipt next to its entry in the Monthly overview section for easy reference later on.

Yes, those pieces of software can directly connect to your bank account which is convenient, but they aren’t typically all that user-friendly and I’m a fan of keeping your recurring expenses low – especially when you are starting or growing a business.

There will probably come a point where you’re ready for a fully automated system, and it will make sense to move to software, but it’s definitely not a requirement. The most important thing is to have organized & easy to read records that you can hand over to your accountant, and ideally ones that also help you understand how your business is doing and where there are opportunities to optimize.

No, you will need to either download your transactions from your bank and copy/paste them into the spreadsheet, or enter transactions manually.

I did look into being able to connect the spreadsheet and automatically download transaction, but Canadian security regulations for online banking are pretty strict – which is not a bad thing! There just wasn’t a good way to get it done securely, given that this is not software but rather a humble spreadsheet. The spreadsheet does do a lot, this was just one thing that was a no-go.

You bet. If you are purchasing the Done-For-You package then spreadsheet customization is included in the package price already.

If you want to purchase just the spreadsheet but need customizations made please get in touch first, they can be done for an additional fee.

No, if you are buying the Done-For-You service package it is just one payment of $1700 CAD (plus tax), and I will do the books for your entire 2025 year in one go. I do not offer monthly bookkeeping services at this time.

If you purchase the spreadsheet then it is a one-time payment, and you own the spreadsheet for life and can use it for as many years as you want to. There are NO recurring monthly or annual fees!

The Done-For-You service is only available for businesses in Canada. I have no idea what the tax rules are in other countries, what kinds of things you can write off as a business expense, and so on.

The spreadsheet might, possibly, maybe (with a heavy emphasis on the maybe) work for businesses in other countries, however it’s very much set up for Canadian businesses and Canadian tax law. I would not be able to provide documentation or support for any businesses located outside of Canada.

No, if you have regular employees and are running payroll and need to remit taxes on their behalf you need a higher touch service that is specifically set up to be able to handle that. I have never owned a business that had regular employees, so I’m afraid I don’t have any experience or recommendations in that area!

If you hire contractors then this will work just fine for you – there is an expense category built-in to track how much you spend on contract services.
